You Broke the Cycle Annual Celebration

the Fort Greene Project Annual Celebration is a four–day resource festival designed to uplift homeless individuals, low income families, youth, and job seekers. This event includes Breaking Cycles Career Summit, Fort Greene Community Day, job fair, resource expo, music and entertainment, pre-employment training, and a family–style community BBQ picnic.


Purpose and Objectives

the Fort Greene Project’s Annual Celebration exists to uplift, empower, and connect marginalized individuals and families by bringing together vital resources, community partners, and joyful experiences in two unifying events. Additionally, our annual celebration will:

  • Provide direct access to services such as employment opportunities, health screenings, and housing support.
  • Celebrate progress and resilience among individuals overcoming poverty, homelessness, and other challenges.
  • Foster community connection through food, music, spiritual encouragement, and cultural expression.
  • Raise awareness and engagement among local organizations, volunteers, and supporters.
  • Inspire long-term transformation by connecting attendees with follow-up programs like Breaking Cycles Outreach and year-round support services.

Breaking Cycles Career Summit

This three–day event aims at connecting career seekers with employers, career development resources, and educational institutions. The event will serve as a bridge to employment, skill development, and networking opportunities for individuals across a wide demographic spectrum, including recent graduates, unemployed adults, individuals seeking career transitions, and members of low–income and marginalized communities.


Breaking Cycles Career Summit Includes:

  • Job fair with interviewing and recruiting stations
  • Panel discussions with industry professionals 
  • Career development workshops
  • Job placement support
  • ID card assistance
  • Professional attire giveaway
  • Male and female haircuts
  • Professional headshots

This event aims to provide a nutritious and dignified meal to individuals experiencing poverty and marginalization, while creating a joyful, inclusive atmosphere through music and community connection. This event will also serve as a platform to raise awareness and funds for local services, and to directly connect guests with essential resources like housing support, healthcare, and career assistance. Ultimately, Fort Greene Community Day fosters hope, builds community bonds, and empowers both guests and volunteers to be part of a life-change experience.
