Breaking Cycles Community Outreach is a monthly community engagement event dedicated to serving individuals and families experiencing hardship in marginalized communities. Through this initiative, participants receive a nutritious meal, essential supplies, and access to meaningful resources designed to promote stability, self-sufficiency, and hope. The event creates a welcoming environment where community members can build relationships, receive encouragement, and connect with opportunities that help break cycles of poverty, homelessness, unemployment, and social isolation. With the support of volunteers, community partners, and local organizations, this monthly gathering serves as a catalyst for positive change and long-term transformation.
As part of the Fort Greene Project's mission to remove barriers to education, wellness, financial stability, and adequate housing, Breaking Cycles Community Outreach provides both immediate relief and pathways to lasting success. Guests enjoy free BBQ-style meals, clothing, food bags, hygiene items, backpacks, family-friendly activities, and haircuts for men, women, and children. Participants are also connected to critical resources, including housing assistance, educational opportunities, food pantries, employment services, ID assistance, cell phone connectivity, and supportive community networks such as churches, mentors, and new friendships. Through these services, the Fort Greene Project works to create stronger, more inclusive communities where every individual has access to the support and resources needed to thrive.
